Jamma Conservation and Communities will open its September 2026 Human-Centred Conservation Storytelling Grant for professionally produced stories examining conservation through people's lived realities in Africa.
Funding tiers
- Up to US$5,000 for written, audio or single-format stories
- Up to US$8,000 for multi-part or more complex reporting
- Up to US$12,000 for visual or film-based projects
The grant is intended for experienced journalists, filmmakers, photographers and audio storytellers working to professional editorial standards. Proposals should examine how conservation intersects with rights, livelihoods, governance, knowledge, culture, land use, climate adaptation, health, food systems or coexistence with wildlife.
Applicants must demonstrate an established route to publication, broadcast or distribution. Promotional material, organisational marketing, generic wildlife stories without a strong human dimension and oversimplified advocacy narratives are outside the stated purpose.
Applications open on 1 September and close on 29 September 2026 at 23:59 GMT.
