Free and Open Communications on the Internet (FOCI) is inviting submissions for its 2027 research programme on Internet freedom. The first issue will be presented at an online event on 28 January 2027.
Relevant topics include:
- Internet censorship and circumvention
- Corporate or government surveillance
- Content-moderation systems
- Online misinformation, disinformation and propaganda
- Press freedom and protection of whistleblowers
- Intellectual-property rules affecting open communication
- Social, legal, policy and technical dimensions of digital speech control
FOCI welcomes research papers, position papers, experience papers and preliminary-work papers. Available lengths include two-page extended abstracts, four-page short papers and eight-page long papers, excluding references and appendices. Submissions are double-blind and must follow the stated template and AI-disclosure policy.
