The journal Media and Communication invites abstracts for its thematic issue “Trust, Misinformation, and Institutional Communication in High-Trust or High-Control Societies”.

This call examines how public agencies, health authorities and community-led organisations communicate in societies characterised by strong governance, developmental agendas or regulated media ecosystems. It focuses on how institutions maintain legitimacy and public trust while addressing rumours, misinformation, disinformation and cross-border information disorder.

Relevant areas include institutional communication; crisis and health communication; public-sector messaging; organised disinformation; media regulation; communicative legitimacy; community trust; and digital-platform information flows. The issue particularly welcomes perspectives beyond Western liberal democracies.

Abstract submission window: 1–15 September 2026.

Full-paper submission window: 15–31 January 2027.

Expected issue publication: July–December 2027.
