IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications invites submissions for a special issue on AI Governance, Authenticity, and Provenance for Visual Media. The issue addresses how generative AI is transforming image and video creation while creating urgent challenges around authenticity, attribution, accountability and public trust.

Suitable topics include visual and multimodal fact-checking tools; image/video forensics; robust watermarking and fingerprinting; provenance tracking; interactive provenance visualisation; human-in-the-loop authenticity assessment; disclosure and content-labelling interfaces; platform-level governance; and verification workflows for journalism and publishing.

The call particularly welcomes technically grounded work in computer graphics, visualisation, visual analytics, multimedia systems, human–computer interaction, AI/ML and security. Submissions must make a substantive visual-media or visual-computing contribution; general commentary or policy summaries alone are not sufficient.

Submission deadline: 4 September 2026.

Expected special-issue publication: March 2027.
