The University of Beira Interior, Portugal, invites original submissions to the International Conference on Television and New Media, themed “Democracy in Times of Anger”. The conference examines how television, audiovisual media and digital platforms shape democratic debate, political polarization and public trust.

Relevant topics include television and democratic resilience; political communication; journalism and editorial independence; misinformation and fact-checking; public-service media; AI and algorithms; streaming platforms; social-media ecosystems; media literacy; and freedom of expression.

Eligible participants include scholars, researchers and media professionals. Both in-person and remote presentations are accepted.

Abstract length: up to 500 words, in English.

Submission deadline: 1 September 2026.

Acceptance notification: 30 September 2026.

Conference dates: 5–6 November 2026.

Registration: €25 for students; €50 for PhD holders; free for UBI/LabCom members.

Accepted work may be considered for a free, open-access edited book.
